This Christmas we decided to save some money and stay home. It was really hard to not be around family, but we had a good time starting some of our own traditions. It had been almost 5 years since the last time we had a Christmas tree. Right after Thanksgiving we picked up a tree and had it up for the majority of December. We loved having it and Clara was enthralled with the tree. Clara knew it wasn't just a tree but a Christmas tree and loved the twinkling lights. We attempted visiting Santa Clause, twice, and she was not to happy about that. But if she was far enough away she would Santa, Ho Ho, and give him a high five. We went all out this year and bought Christmas outfits. Micah had a red and white striped tie and cuff links, Heidi had a red skirt and scarf, and Clara had the cutest red flowered dress. She received many compliments.
We got together with several friends through out the month but of course we are awful at taking pictures. We did get some fun pictures of us decorating ugly sweater cookies with the Robert's. Clara loved the sprinkled! We also had a Charles Dickens dinner to celebrate the Christmas Carol with the Satterfield's. Everything was based around an England style Christmas dinner during that time, except we had Cornish hens instead of goose.
Christmas Eve day came and we celebrated with having lasagna Micah made. Yummy! We watched Christmas on Sesame Street and Its A Wonderful Life that night.
Christmas morning it was fun for Clara to see all the presents and gifts from Santa and family. She was spoiled by all those amazing family members. We felt so blessed to be together as family and to be reminded of the wonderful blessing our Savior is. Jesus was the Ultimate Gift and that gift has been a phenomenal influnece on my life.
