About 2 hours away from us there is one of the biggest Renaissance festivels in the nation. They have it going from October through November. Thanks to a friend, we were able to get a deal on some tickets and ventured out with our friends the Satterfield's and the Harris's.
We had heard the festivel was big but once we walked through the gate we were amazed. It is almost a small city, and the detail is impressive. They must take great care through out the whole year because even the landscaping and greenery was beautiful. I wish I would have taken more pictures to give you an idea.
A lot people dress up and some the costumes were fantastic! Everyone spoke in an accent and used phrases and sayings from that time. There were so many shops and food vendors we didn't know where to start. Luckily we had some centra a with us who had a plan.
We watched a lot of the entertainers and shows. We saw some amazing talent with a whip and knife throwing. We watched a juggling/circus act which Clara loved and even danced to the music. We watched a falconry show and some incredible musical talent. There were also jousting events through out the day. We made it to one showing and were on the Spanish team (our knight didn't win). Clara loved watching the horses run pas teach other. There was a parade as well and you could see the workers costumes. They handed out flowers and loved Clara even though she was a little scared of them.
Next year hopefully we can go back and we will have a much better plan and maybe some more money for spending.
