Washington D.C. again

We had the chance to go to Washington D.C. again because we really wanted to see the National Cathedral and Mount Vernon. This time we stayed in Pentagon City which was really nice. From our window you could see the National Cathedral, Washington Monument, the Capitol, Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Pentagon right in front of the building. On Saturday we took the metro and the bus to the National Cathedral. We hardly ever use the bus so traveling was a little interesting and stressful but we made it. The Cathedral was enormous and incredibly beautiful. It is amazing to think that the Washington monument could be laid down inside the cathedral. In the T.V. series West Wing there is an important episode at the National Cathedral. We were so excited to stand in the same place it was filmed and to take in the beauty of the Cathedral.

We then took another bus towards the Washington D.C. temple. We visited This Is the Place shop which is like a small Deseret Book. We then walked a short distance and were able to get a better picture of the temple. We went to the visitor center to look around and talked with the a Senior Missionary about when the next bus would stop by. Apparently they stop early on Saturday's. Luckily a member walked in to turn in referral cards and overheard us talking. He asked where we were staying and that he would be driving by there. He offered to give us a ride and we were so grateful. During the ride he gave us a tour of several different things we passed by and his wife, with her French accent, would add in every once in a while. They were so nice and we are so grateful.


On Sunday we watched the UNC game (which they won) before heading out to Mount Vernon. We took the metro and a bus again but this time it was much easier. We saw the original painting of George Washington praying which Micah wanted to be sure and see. We then went to see George Washington's Tomb which was a really cool feeling. We walked down to the wharf and saw the beautiful view and was sure to take pictures. Then we went to see the mansion which was beautiful. We took a tour of the mansion and i must say that George Washington and decent taste for his time. What a wonderful person we have to look up to. We then soaked up the view from the mansion which words can't describe. It was absolutely amazing and I'm so glad we went!
