The next day we made our way towards Winter Quarters, Nebraska. First we made a detour stop. Micah's ancestor, Alpheus Cutler, had a park named after him called Cutler Park go figure. When we finally found it, it was pretty exciting to be in a place that was dedicated to Micah's ancestor.
We then made our way to the Winter Quarters visitor center. Micah thought he had another ancestor buried in the cemetery there but we didn't find a grave stone. We later found out that she wasn't buried there, but died on her way to Winter Quarters I guess. We went inside the visitor center and enjoyed the different displays they had. Then a neat experience took place. there is a permanent missionary there who works with the genealogy type stuff. We went into speak with her and just to rewind, the night before Micah was trying to find out where Alpheus Cutler was buried to see if we could find a grave stone. Anway we were looking up another ancestor of Micah's and Micah mentioned one of his Ancestors was Alpheus Cutler. She then said that they recently discovered Alpheus Cutler's gravestone. I guess a farmer bought the land were the stones were and put them in a well so he could use the land. Since they were in the well they were better preserved then they would have been in the soil. They just discovered these gravestones and she had pictures. She emailed the picture to us and we went to where she said the gravestones were placed. When we got there we didn't see any gravestones and we were worried, but we later found out that Parks and Recreation removed them and put them in a museum to keep them safe from vandalism. So we didn't get to see the grave stone but were glad to have the picture. Before leaving Winter Quarters we were sure to take a picture in front of the beautiful temple.
