Kemah and Schlitterbahn

This weekend Micah planned some fun things for us to do. We realized that we only have so many weeks left here in Texas and haven't done half of the things we wanted to do. This past weekend our friends the Marler's drove up to spend part of the weekend with us. We then met up with the Harris's and went to the Kemah Boardwalk. It is a fun place with shops, restaurants, rides, and games that you can play. We played a carnival game where you had to get the ball in a red or blue hole to win a medium or large stuffed animal. We played and didn't make it in a colored hole so I picked a small stuffed shark. Awesome, I know. The Marler's played and the ball went into a red hole. They won a large stuffed unicorn from Despicable Me. We were all pretty excited and couldn't stop quoting the movie. We then ate a delicious meal at The Flying Dutchman where Micah was finally able to try Gumbo. It was really good! It was then time to stake out a spot to watch the fireworks. While we were waiting Micah wanted to go and ride the Bullet, which is the Boardwalk's "famous" roller coaster.  I was too big of a wimp to go but the Marler's were all up for it. They said it was a ride that gave you an adrenaline rush and said their picture from the ride was pretty entertaining. We enjoyed watching the firework show and were close to a speaker so we had no problem hearing the music. The Harris's also had some fun taking pictures of all of us kissing in front of the fireworks. It is not as easy as it looks!

The next day we went with the Marler's to the Galveston water park, Schlitterbahn. We had a blast the entire day! We rode through rapids and enjoyed the Torrent river by catching the climax of the waves at the corners. There were many different water slides to go on and we just about went on all of them. The boys went on The Cliffhanger which is just like the name states. You basically drop straight down 81 feet. There was no way I was going to go on that one but I was proud of Micah for going. Although he said the worst part was climbing the spiral staircase to get the top of the ride - He does not do too well with heights. We even had a chance to boogie board and we all did pretty well. We were disappointed when it was time to leave but I was sure exhausted from all the fun. We had so much that we needed a few days to recover. My muscles were pretty sore especially my abdominal muscles from trying to hold myself up in the tube. Thanks to our wonderful friends the Harris's and the Marler's for a fantastic weekend!
